Why I call myself a Psychic (Not a Medium)

I call myself a psychic, not a medium, and I do that for a very specific reason.

When people hear the word “medium,” they immediately picture a scene from a movie where someone is clutching a handkerchief and sobbing while I try to describe their Great-Aunt Mildred’s favorite floral brooch. They think my entire job is just being a cosmic receptionist for the dead, a bridge to the “other side” where the only goal is to get a “hello” from a ghost. But that’s not what I’m about; that’s not where my fire is. My work is about you, the person sitting in front of me right now, and the wild, messy, beautiful life you’re actually living.

I’ve seen it a thousand times: someone walks in, sees the “medium” label, and they shut down everything else because they’re just waiting for a sign from a late relative. It’s like they’re stuck in the rearview mirror.  I

When call myself a psychic, I’m setting the stage for the future. I’m looking at your timeline, your energy, and the paths you haven’t even walked down yet. Sure, do spirits pop in sometimes? Absolutely. They’re like neighbors leaning over a fence—they’ve got thoughts. But I’m not here to just deliver postcards from the afterlife; I’m here to give you a map for the road you’re on today.

Think about the history of this stuff—it’s always been a bit chaotic. Take the Delphic Oracles in Ancient Greece. People didn’t trek through the mountains and brave the sulfur fumes just to ask if their late uncle was happy; they went to find out if they should launch a fleet or start a business. They wanted foresight. That’s the tradition I’m stepping into. I’m looking for the “hit,” that burst of information that tells me, “Hey, if you take that job in Seattle, your creativity is going to explode, but your social life might take a hit for six months.” That’s practical. That’s useful.

I remember this one case—a woman came to me totally convinced she needed to hear from her father to “move on.” But as I tuned in, the energy wasn’t coming from him; it was coming from her own untapped potential in a career she was terrified to start. By identifying as a psychic, I could pivot the conversation away from a séance and toward a strategy session. I told her exactly what hurdles were coming in her industry over the next two years. That’s the “high-burstiness” of my work—it’s flashes of data, not just sentimental messages.

It’s about the difference between validation and direction. Mediumship is often about validating that life continues after death, which is beautiful, don’t get me wrong. But psychic work is about directing the life you have now. It’s like the difference between a historian and a trend forecaster. I want to tell you about the storm coming next week so you can buy an umbrella, not just tell you about the rain that fell fifty years ago.

When I’m in the zone, it’s messy. I get these psychic “downloads”—images, feelings, weirdly specific words—and they’re all about the now and the next. If I let people box me into the “talking to the dead” category, I’m doing them a disservice because I’m ignoring the 90% of my frequency that’s tuned into their destiny.

I’m Zonkatron because I want to “zonk” you with the truth of your own power and your own future

I look at someone like Jeane Dixon, who famously predicted major political shifts. She wasn’t just sitting around waiting for spirits to whisper names; she was reading the “ripples” in the collective energy. That’s my vibe. I’m reading the ripples you’re making in the world. I want to give you guidance that you can actually use when you wake up tomorrow morning. If we spend the whole hour talking to your ancestors, who is going to help you navigate your divorce or your promotion?

So, I stick with “Psychic.” It keeps the focus on the living. It keeps the focus on the practical. I’m here to be your scout, running a few miles ahead on the trail to see if there’s a cliff or a goldmine waiting for you. The dead have all the time in the world, but you? You’ve got a life to live right now, and I’m here to make sure you live it with your eyes wide open.
